Is your bike Race-Ready?

For the safety of yourself and others, please be sure your bicycle is safe and ready to ride the day of the event. We cannot emphasize enough the importance of checking your tire pressure and making sure your spokes, seat and handlebars are secure. Each bike will be inspected in the Transition Zone prior to the commencement of the race, by a race official, and flagged should a hazard be noted. Clipless pedals will be permitted; however, toe holders will not be permitted. Be sure your handle bars are secure and plugged. You will not be permitted to have glass bottles with you during the race.

Race Day

Body marking, chip timing allocation and check in will begin at 7:00am Saturday June 10th. The Transition Area within the Westlock Aquatic Centre parking lot (where you will be able to stow your bike) opens at 7:00am. Access within the transition area will not be permitted after 7:45am. A pre-race meeting will commence at 7:45am with the race officially starting at 8:00am. All athletes and their families are welcome to stay for refreshments and snacks to follow the race. An awards presentation will take place once all participants have completed their race.

What do I do when I arrive?

Drop your bike and gear in the Transition Area. Set up your transition. Remember to take anything you need for the swim component of the triathlon such as goggles, swim cap, etc. with you.

Report to the Athlete Check-in that will be located within the Main Lobby inside the Westlock Aquatic Centre. Please provide your first and last name as well as any pertinent medical information, and if you have not already done so, sign your athlete waiver form. This is where and when body marking will also occur (Westlock Aquatic Centre – Main Lobby).

Timing chip bracelets will be distributed in the pool area.

Race Rules & Regulations - Basic Rules for your First Race

Below are some quick rules that you should know before competing in your first race. We recommend also going through the Triathlon Canada Rules, which can be found at www.triathlon.ab.ca
