Weather Notification
Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.
Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a weather notification for central Alberta, including the Westlock region, with significant rainfall possible over the coming days, which may contribute to localized flooding and increased pressure on drainage and wastewater systems.
Following recent rainfall events, the Town of Westlock is closely monitoring conditions and preparing for the potential impacts of additional precipitation. Public Works and Utilities crews are actively working throughout the community and at the wastewater treatment system to mitigate risks, reduce system pressures, and improve readiness ahead of the forecasted weather.
Residents are encouraged to take proactive steps to help reduce the risk of basement flooding and sewer backups. Sump pumps should be checked for proper operation and discharged outside the home, with water directed away from the foundation and toward an appropriate drainage area on the property. Residents should ensure downspouts are directed away from building foundations, and valuables are moved off basement floors if flooding is a concern. Where safe and appropriate, residents may also consider measures to help prevent sanitary sewer backup through basement floor drains.
The Town will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide updates as more information becomes available.
24-Hour Gym Closure
The 24-Hour Gym at the Westlock Aquatic Centre will be closed from Friday, June 26 at 8:30 p.m. until Saturday, June 27 at 11 a.m. to allow for floor waxing.
