    Volunteer with Us

We are seeking dedicated volunteers to help maintain the Eastglen Outdoor Rink for the upcoming season. From mid-December to early March (weather permitting), the rink requires continuous work ranging from building ice thickness to general maintenance of the ice surface.

If you’re interested in volunteering, here’s what you can expect:

    Volunteer Responsibilities:

    • Attend Outdoor Rink Maintenance Training: Learn the skills needed to maintain the rink throughout the season.
    • Shovel and Clean Ice Edges: Removing snow and debris keeps the rink safe and clean.
    • Flood the Ice Surface: Help flood the rink to maintain a smooth skating experience.
    • Snow Removal: While it’s not required that every volunteer assists with snow removal, we’re looking for 2-3 volunteers to help clear the rink after major snowfalls. Pitch in when you can!
    • Rink Flooding: Before flooding, the rink surface needs to be cleaned (scraped). The Town prefers to flood early in the morning or after 9:00 PM. Rink flooding happens multiple times a week, with more frequent flooding at the start of the season to build up ice depth.

We’re especially interested in volunteers with experience in flooding and maintaining outdoor ice rinks, but all levels of experience are welcome.

Send us an email with the subject line “volunteering” to make a difference in our community today!

Call 780-349-4444 to find out how to get involved.
